Yes, Iowa City Junior Service League!!

Iowa City Junior Service League of Iowa City, IA received a Governor's Volunteer Award from Governor Chet Culver.

The Governor's Volunteer Award program was created in 1982. The program has grown from a small program only available to state agencies to its present function of providing all Iowa non-profit, charitable, and government organizations with an easy and effective way to honor their volunteers with a prestigious state-level recognition award.

Our History:

The Iowa City Junior Service League was the inspiration of a few women, new to Iowa City, but not new to Junior Leagues. It was decided that Iowa City was certainly a community that could support a Junior League and the services it would have to offer. Over the summer months of 2002, a group of 22 women organized to form the Board of Directors and various committees necessary to start the Iowa City Junior Service League. On September 19th, 2002 the first membership drive was held at the Sheraton, Downtown Iowa City. The response was tremendous. The ICJSL is committed to its community and serving women and children
